The Bank

To find an accommodation, or for other procedures, you will need a bank statement. Not easy to find an accommodation with a letter from Business France that can bring confusion to the landlords and real estate agencies (French contract but associated to the UK, bla bla bla).
And not easy to find a bank when you don’t have a home. Yep, the administrative vicious circle exists everywhere.

Personally, I am with HSBC. No fee for the basic account and they accepted to open my bank account just with a work reference letter from Business France. Easier for me as I was thinking about coming back to France at some point… If I decide to come back, I know I can transfer my British account to a French account. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
For the transfers between my French and my British accounts, I use Transferwise.
